Time flies when you’re not required to be at a desk answering questions and worrying about deadlines. I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already!
Okay truth be told, I’ve taken naps over the last two days. Not exactly the productive new-business-owning-go-getter, but damn sleep is good, and takes up some time! My goals for these first two weeks of being home and “unemployed” are as follows:
2) clean SOMETHING everyday
4) make at least one small step towards making my business a reality each day.
Yesterday I was sort of on the ball. I woke up, blogged, went to crossfit at 12pm, took a nap from 1:30-4, hung out with my husband while he made me dinner, wrote a personal manifesto and brainstormed about my brand. Cleaning slightly happened because as I was going through a pile of mail on the stairs, my husband came home and decided to sweep the entry way, joint win on that, especially because I took an adorable vine of it, we let Soli play the broom game.

Today I had a really wonderful discussion with Jessica about my business, and wow the ideas are flowing. After thinking that Marie Forleo’s b-school would have to be something that waited until next year, I’m back on the fence about it. Jessica was really great in telling me more about the community and what I could get out of the program as a brand new business owner. If I want to build an online business I’m sure I could buy some books, but I know I’m more of an interactive learner and I also know that what I’m trying to build would be really good for many people in b-school, the community sound really fantastic. Lots to think about and discuss with John.
We’re off to Whistler tomorrow, so this first week isn’t quite a full “week at home” in my new life. This trip is always a ton of fun, there will be 28 friends/ friends of friends going this year! Seeing as though I have not touched my skis at all this season, it should be interesting. I was going to take a lesson, but I don’t anticipate skiing much more this year, so I think I’ll hold off til next year when I’m hoping we might have more ski trips planned. (yes, I realize with the goal of having a baby this is confusing and slightly unlikely, but I’ve seen people do crazier things).
PS, my friend Mel mentioned that I never revealed the Valentine’s Day card I got for John! Here it is:
So, a couple reasons why this is perfect. A) we often play the game “Guess what?” and the answer is either “I love you”, “chicken butt” or “baboon butt” this is the perfect combo of that joke. 2) We LOVE Bob’s Burger, and one of favorite episodes is Art Crawl, in that episode there’s a lot of animal anuses mentioned. Click the link to see for yourself. There’s a lot of gems from that particular episode that we quote all the time. I’m happy that we have a simliar sense of humor, it makes our relationship work.
