It’s been a week! It started off at home celebrating the new year with good friends in a very low key and quite way. Last year we enjoyed bringing in 2012 near Leavenworth in a cabin. It was something of a last New Year’s Eve Hoorah. This year some of our closest friends have babies or are pregnant or were traveling. So we celebrated at a quite house party, not too far from our house so it was easy to get home. It was a last minute get together since none of us had really made any big plans. This was a good thing as we start thinking more about budgeting since I won’t have steady income soon. A bunch us will be heading to Whistler for a big ski adventure in the last weekend of February, which is always a great trip but it can also be pretty pricey.
I was all smiles last year before a mini freakout on a blue run. I think I’m going to take a refresher lesson this year to ease John of my worry.
So start off this new year right, John and I slept in and ended up not going cross country skiing! We had heard that the trails were super crowded and that wasn’t what we were looking for. So instead we headed out to North Bend and enjoyed a really nice walk with the pup and my mother-in-law.
This eased my mind a bit about heading down to California the next day, which I was stressing over, but when I got home and had to pack, I was fretting about it all over again.
The trip was pretty normal, except that I got really sick last night, potentially from making the stupid mistake of eating Panda Express. I haven’t had it in a long time and I was being really lazy and indecisive on what I wanted to eat, so I risked it.
Maybe it was their plan to poison me?
Uck, what a risk. I started getting a headache at 8:30pm and went to bed. I woke up at 7am, not only with a worse headache but also feeling really nauseous. I got myself to the office only to turn back and go home, I could barely concentrate on writing the email to tell people I was sick. So I spent my entire day in bed, which is not great when work keeps piling up and deadlines are getting closer. But I knew I would be useless no matter what, so there’s nothing I could have done.
Luckily by time 4pm rolled around the rest had helped and I wasn’t feeling nauseous anymore. I headed out to have a quick meet up with Karen and Matt at Dairy Queen near the airport! Karen is running a 50k tomorrow on a whim. She and her husband are totally bad ass like that. In some ways I wish I could have stayed in town and done one of the events….
Tomorrow John and I are going to the Resolution Revolution 2, the second time StoneWay CF is putting on a competition. The WOD was released earlier this week. And yes I said WOD not WODs. Right now as we know it, there’s some mystery jump rope aspect, and then this WOD:
We’re doing RX Lite, so the 2nd numbers
60 Squat Clean and Jerks (155/105 or 115/75)
4 Weighted Hill runs (25/10)
50 Deadlifts (205/155 or 145/115)
this is not exactly what we were expecting, since last year’s competition had a lot more to it. After reading some of the info on the facebook page, and knowing that a woman who placed 19th in the FireBreather division of the Gorilla Games will be in the Rx Lite division, we’re just going to go and have fun. I honestly feel like this is more of a difficult weekend partner WOD than a competition, the only difference being that it’s a couple of different boxes coming together and there will be prizes.
I practiced deadlifts this week quite a bit, since Monday I did this WOD:
and Thursday I did this one
Bench Press (45)
Power Clean (65)
Meshelle had me start at 8 and not go too heavy, she said to not wear myself out or be sore on competition day. 75# felt a little tough when I put that on to practice, but I’ll survive 30 reps, it just may be slow. I think the WOD tomorrow will be challenging, but I am a little bummed that there’s not more than just one big piece to it.
I’ll have an update on how it all goes tomorrow, hopefully with a little bit of video too!
I hope your first week of 2013 was great!!
